CHANNEL 4- A REPEAT PERFORMANCE - by Rosie Stembo
Channel 4 has targeted Sri Lanka from the time the LTTE were the treading the beaten path to the world of the vanquished. So this not the first time…… it is a mere repeat performance.
This is also not the end of Channel 4 tunnel, much more is in the pipe line with further productions to produce more mirth, with more hilarious episodes to follow. Sadly having being caught napping twice within a short space who would believe them again? Except that tribe that is desperate to ridicule the country of their birth and their alien sponsors. HEIL SOLHEIM!- By Gomin Dayasri Eric Solheim-you are as transparent as the Emperor in his New Clothes, parading on the streets of Oslo.
You were the facilitator/negotiator between the Sri Lankan government and Tamil Tigers. Many alleged you were partial and prejudiced. Your most recent pronouncement to Aftenposten proves it beyond doubt.
“Now he [Solheim] demands UN to investigate what happened in the last phase of the bloody civil war in Sri Lanka” quotes Aftenposten. Why did you limit it to the last phase of the war, Eric? Probably he still cannot bear to watch the last phase where his sponsor the LTTE were trounced, which in its glory days, strained to make him the facilitator on which he tried to gain fame in the international arena. However, never till now have we had the misfortune to witness the horrible spectacle of a pack of sniveling sycophants in political office of various types with unconcealed ambitions to climb higher on the basis of nothing more noble than their ignoble sycophancy, heaping mortal and unforgivable insults on the person of the Head of State while believing those insults to constitute fulsome praise which would so please the Head of State that they would result in his granting them some patronage or benefit whether political or otherwise !!! - by Gomin Dayasri The 13 th amendment has been in existence for over 20 years and it has brought no relief to Sri Lanka. Both are presently homeless and in search of identities. IDPs have a home to go back; but the Diaspora once hopeful of welcome return for the prodigal sons by the LTTE, will have no welcoming team on arrival in Sri Lanka. Read more....

The near 4 minute newscast on Channel 4 is an aggressive staccato style outburst against the Sri Lanka military and is undistinguishable from the usual rhetoric originating from LTTE media sources. RAISE YOUR HAND FOR TAMILS - by Gomin Dayasri Will you put up your hand to elevate the Tamil People or the Tamil Politicians? Sinhalese will raise both hands with sincerity in favor of the Tamil People. Not merely raise hands; they will clap with both the hands in support.
Such is the bonhomie that prevails presently in Sinhalese electorates as they see flashes on the television screen, the helping hands of the security forces bringing the captive Tamil civilians to safety. They see the innocent helpless look on the faces of those Tamil civilians looking aged and haggard with years of toil and adversity under LTTE iron fist. Indeed among them are planted Tiger moles!
Fundamental Rights and the 17th Amendment by Gomin Dayasri There is a misunderstanding in the treatment of fundamental rights globally and misconception on the 17 th Amendment locally.
One school of thought, believes in aggressive judicial activism making the borders of fundamental rights, elastic and stretchable reaching the realm of “justice without borders”, to control the executive and legislature in an effort to discipline their misdeeds and misdemeanors. Very proper, very necessary- provided they are not encroaching into the vested legal territory of others as a trespasser or a terrorist.

Diyen Biyen Choo is not Dien Bien Phu but LTTE beware the ides of May – by Lalin Fernando SL's newspaper 'war' correspondents and a few retired military souls reporting on the 30 year counter terrorist conflict were wont to induce a veneer of military sophistication to their 'front line' news as well as their egos by comparisons with famous battles not simply in any war but in World Wars.So Somme, Stalingrad, Gallipolli, Dunkirk, Berlin, Dresden, Hiroshima were visited with great vigour if not desperation. One however went as far as hoping against hope during the Killinochchi battle to refer to Dien Bien Phu. WHERE ARE THE NOMADS? by Manoli Jinadasa
It is a well known fact that the LTTE, was financed primarily by the Tamil diaspora abroad. Although the LTTE was reputed to be the deadliest terror group in the world, committing unspeakable atrocities on innocent civilians, the Tamil Diaspora had no qualms about funding this terrorist organization. They pacified their conscious on the premise that they are looking after the interest of the Tamils in Sri Lanka, to ensure their rights are protected. The donors' cat is out the bag at lastby Dimuth Gunawardena In the wake of the 'Des Browne' fiasco and Senior Presidential Advisor Basil Rajapaksa ticking off Britain, Norway for criticising 'transitional' villages in the North, a blatant attempt to covertly interfere in Sri Lanka's internal affairs has been well and truly exposed.
This is revealed in a document that the so-called Task Force on IDP of the Bilatereral Donor Group has prepared without the knowledge of the Sri Lanka Government. The conspirators - needless to say - are Britain, Australia, Britain, Norway, Canada, European Union, France, Germany, Japan, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA. The real culprit however appears to be Britain.
Does India - U.S. alliance threaten South Asia? by Dimuth Gunawardena Sri Lanka is on the verge of destroying the most ruthless terrorist organisation in the world. Even the most extreme elements in the South of Sri Lanka accept that upon completion of this task certain genuine grievances of the Tamil people and a certain degree of devolution envisaged in the current constitution should be implemented in the Northern Province as it is now being done successfully done in the Island s East. India knows all this too well. Nevertheless New Delhi and explicitly its South Indian clique is again attempting to repeat their attempts of 1987 save LTTE which is on the verge of defeat.
India, LTTE & a sequel to Vadamarachchi Prabakaran s escape Shenali Waduge To India s stepped up vigilance & surveillance of air & coastal waters to prevent LTTE leader Prabakaran from escaping to India we have only two questions who ordered a helicopter to depart from Hindon military base, New Delhi in 1987 to save a cornered Prabakaran in Vadamarachchi? Why did India decide to descend upon Sri Lanka, ignore our country s territorial integrity & save a TERRORIST? There was no war on terror in the early 1980s but India the creators of the LTTE armed cadres knew very well that the LTTE was no freedom fighter but an Indian trained killer machine.
Constitutional Ministry seeks Federal Solutions? by Gomin Dayasri
The Select Committee report under the chairmanship of Vijitha Herath traced the origins of the relationship between the Burghof Foundation (BF) and the Ministry of Constitutional affairs which resulted in two agreements of 2001 and 2006 which was the central issue examined by the parliamentarians at a Select Committee. The first Agreement of 2001 was during the period of Chandrika Kumaranatunga where G.L.Pieris was the Minister and the second Agreement was in 2006 under the Mahinda Rajapakse regime with D.E.W. Life after Prabhakaranby Gomin Dayasri
A Prabhakaran dead can be more menacing than a Prabhakharan alive. Prabhakaran missing could be still worse. Anuradhapura (1985) and Bombay (2008)-by Lalin Fernando
The Jihadist terrorist attack in Bombay (pop 19 million) the commercial capital of India on 27 November which killed nearly 200 people was cowardly, brutal and outrageous. That is what must be emphasized and not what expert level of planning and training went into killing innocent people as the media is oft wont to emphasize. Sadly it recalls in much the same way the Indian trained but surely not planned Tiger terrorist attack on pilgrims, most of them women, worshipping in Anuradhapura in 1985. MANMOHAN SINGH’S LOVE FOR HIS `JOB’by S L Gunasekara A colossal tragedy of `democratic’ politics, at least in our Region, is that our so-called `leaders’ are so infatuated with power that they consort with, tolerate and even give into `rabble’ such as `thugs’, unprincipled `climbers’, `job’ and `fortune hunters’ and like `undesirables’ to obtain or retain power.

THE LAST WILL OF PRABHAKARAN By Gomin Dayasri
In a dying declaration, Prabhakaran writes his own obituary in praise of himself. He throws a dead rope to the international Tamil community to carry out a rescue operation. The cornered, make believe king of Eelam, once hopeful of extending imaginary borders to encompass a Greater Tamil Nadu, dispatches an SOS from his shrinking kingdom before it passes into oblivion. His ghost writer presented a script which became worthless at the time he read the contents. An apt phrase was selected as a prelude to his doomed expectations-“Today, there are great changes taking place in India”. Unfolding was a drama in India where the pleas of Chennai was checkmated by events in Mumbai. Prabhakaran desperately required a revised script to maintain his own credibility- it was too late and not forthcoming. Fortunes have certainly deserted him. Terrorism in India undid the terrorist in Sri Lanka, in his farewell speech. OH, WHAT A LIAR !!- by S L Gunasekara Only a colossal idiot could believe the lies and pious platitudes in the speech delivered by the thug Prabhakaran last Thursday. If such an idiot does exist, he would be left with the belief that Prabhakaran is the very personification of virtue, who abhors violence, and stands much higher in the index of virtue than Mother Theresa !!
Apart from his diatribe against the Sinhalese People, the essential message that Prabhakaran sought to convey is that he, being dedicated to peace, is ever ready to engage in `peace talks’. The unspoken premise on which this lie is based is that there must be an immediate cease-fire as a pre-requisite for such talks !!
Recognising Sri Lankas’ Strengths -A release from PROTECT SRI LANKA
Protect Lanka believes that Sri Lanka has entered a critical milestone in the history of its war against terrorism. For the first time, there is a well focused, planned strategy with adequate resources to dilute and eventually eliminate the forces of terrorism which has maintained a stranglehold on our nation. We are able to exercise our right to protection from terrorism. Protect Lanka believes that this is also an opportune moment to reflect on the strengths and positive aspects over the past 25 years, giving credit to our achievements as a nation which has not allowed terrorism to destroy our social networks and commitments to development.More on Recognising Sri Lankas' Strengths TAMILS ARE NOT TERRORISTS by Gomin Dayasri
The dissolution and the dismantling of the LTTE is not a defeat for the Tamils. We must ensure after the defeat of the LTTE, the Tamils in the North are brought into mainstream democracy after 30 years of being captive in the hands of the LTTE and have been deprived of the benefits we have enjoyed. Majority of the Tamils are law abiding citizens of whom only a handful are terrorists. TOASTING THE TERRORISTS By Gomin Dayasri
If not for the men and women in the forces who are prepared to lay their lives to save the nation could we today live in safety and security in our homes or send our children to school or engage and transact in business and commerce or indulge in our professional affairs or travel to the airport to take flight or socialize at parties and functions or enjoy events of entertainment? We live a relatively normal life in the midst of a raging war, thanks to the security forces. Tell the Marines -By Gomin Dayasri With the security forces at the entrance to Killinochchi, the foreign legion unhappy with the military success they failed to achieve in their military exercises in Iraq and Afghanistan, have commenced to preach humanitarian values which they never exercised in their military operations. It is ironical to hear Richard Boucher, Benita –Ferrero Waldner, Julian Wilson and our undiplomatic German Ambassador spout on human rights in Sri Lanka displaying their abbreviated memory of events of November 2004 in Falluja, Iraq where the occupying US Forces launched their second major attack on the city of Falluja.
SEPARATIST MYTHS (1): THE B-C PACT
Separatist Propaganda would have us believe that it was the abrogation of the Bandaranaike-Chelvanayagam Pact [BC Pact] of 26.7.57 and of the Dudley Senanayake-Chelvanayagam Pact [DC Pact] of 23.3.65 that led to separatist terrorism, and that this land would have been a haven of peace had these Pacts been implemented. It is indeed tragic that many have agreed with these manifestly untenable contentions as a result of their appalling ignorance of the content of these Pacts, and the circumstances in which they were executed. NGO presence in Third World nations has been in debate & not without reason. Sri Lanka may win the battle against Tamil Tigers but not the war as “they have’nt got the Tamils on their side -N.K.Narayan, National Security Advisor ( India) India neither could defeat the Tamil Tigers nor get the Tamils on their side when the IPKF was around in the North and East. Defeated on both fronts in despair they left. Can Sri Lanka do both or undo the gallant work of the armed forces who have sacrificed so much? An expression by the National Security Advisor but there is more to it –it reflects more the hopes of India than the thoughts of India. Yet it carries a message which needs to be addressed. The grievances of the Tamils require responses. It is not only the Tamils but should include other minorities together with the Sinhalese who are a provincial minority in two provinces, all of whom have exclusive grievances. Importantly, are they legitimate grievances? If so, it is imperative that relief must be forthcoming without hindrance. This is emblematic of reports originating from some foreign funded NGO outfits which are packed with inspired tales slanted with spin and swerve. The noteworthy characteristic is the role played by the ACF before and after the death of the 17 workers. Here is the unfolding of the untold story of Muttur Massacre.
Stop Media treachery against armed forces members! We are living in a country, which is badly torn by a vicious 28 year old war. Over 70,000 lives have perished so far, simply because we have failed to eliminate the brutal terrorist organization we have been fighting with. Why we have failed in the battle may have myriad explanations. Among them what stands out most is the failure of successive governments to rally sufficient international and public support to sustain any meaningful military effort. This failure should be attributed to the strong anti Sri Lankan propaganda mechanism operated by the LTTE sympathizers and indeed to the lack of counter strategies on the part of the government. “Human Rights” in the Context of Conflict by Neville Ladduwahetty
Although the duties, responsibilities and rights of people were codified during the reigns of ancient Emperors such as the King of Ur (2050B.C.), Hammurabi in Mesopotamia (1780 B.C.), Cyrus the Great (6th Century B.C.) in Persia, and Asoka the Great (265B.C.) in India, it was only in the 18th and 19th centuries that thinkers such as Thomas Paine, John Stuart Mill, and others in the US and France came to realize that human rights should be considered part of natural law. Despite this, it was only after the world witnessed the unimaginable horrors of the Holocaust during World War II that the world community acted with frenzied urgency to enshrine certain rights that arise from the fact of being human, and to proclaim and adopt such rights as a common standard for aspiration by all Peoples and all Nations of the world. This commitment resulted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) that was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in December 1948. Read More...
